This mission includes the restoration and preservation of the Fort Davis Railroad Depot, the Fort Davis Community House (formerly the Fort Davis School Building), and the Fort Davis United Methodist Church, which were the cornerstones of the Fort Davis Community in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Fort Davis Alabama Historical Society is also committed to raising public awareness and involvement in the preservation of the history and culture of the Fort Davis Community.
See AL.COM for news about this Depot and other structures in Alabama at risk of history fading away.

In 2018 the Fort Davis Alabama Historical Society was formed. The first project was to restore the historic depot in Fort Davis. The picture below shows how close it came to falling in due to foundation issues. We call the picture on the left, the "Before" picture. The Historical Society members began meeting and planning to raise funds for restoring the depot. Through many years of work including Yard Sales, Dove Shoots, Turkey Hunts, Golf Tournaments, T-Shirt Campaigns, Donations, and Grants, the members saw a dream come true when the depot was finally restored both inside and outside in the year 2025.
The picture on the right is proudly presented as the "After" picture. The Historical Society wishes to thank all who donated and worked to bring this project to completion. If you would like to help with ongoing upkeep expenses, please consider making a donation on our "donate page"
